OPU UK thank Almighty God for the successful launching of OPU across the West Coast of Africa and may God bless Convener Otunba (Dr.) Gani Adams (COGA), OPU Worldwide leader. May Eledumare (Allah) continue to protect, guide our only COGA for his unrelenting task of Promoting Yoruba social-cultural values and economic progress beyond the shore of an entity called Nigeria.

May we also thank Nigerian Ambassador to Cote D'Ivoire for receiving COGA with Open arms plus his entourage of highly placed Obas, traditional rulers, movie & media gurus and other socialites into the embassy. "I believe he's a messiah. He's effort about bringing Nigerians (especially Yorubas) in Diaspora together under one umbrella is not an easy task but he's ready to shoulder it. I’ll advice Nigeria government to give him all the support he needs. As the President of the Nigeria Union in Cote D’ivoire all hands are on desk to see to the progress of the group and Nigeria as a whole". Recently lunched Cote D'ivoire OPU President, Mr. Nasiru K. Gani Adams, Earned Himself A Place in The History of Nigeria !

The Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Ifeoma Jacinte Akabogu-Chinwuba, said the National coordinator of Yoruba socio-cultural organisation Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) Gani Adams has earned himself a place in the history of Yoruba land and Nigeria.

She said the outstanding leadership role and love for the Yoruba race and Nigeria exhibited by Gani Adams, should be emulated by other leaders of ethno-cultural organisations in Nigeria. The Ambassador stated this on Saturday when a powerful delegation from Nigeria led by Otunba Gani Adams, who is also the convener of the Odua Progressive Union arrived the Country capital.

Gani Adams was in the country for the launch of the Cote d’Ivoire chapter of the Odua Progressive Union alongside royal fathers including HRM Oba Adewole Joseph Adebayo, HRM Oba Bola Sani Olanipekun, HRM Oba Adeoye Lasisi Olawuyi, HRM Oba Walidu Sanni, Nollywood Star Actor, Yomi Fash Lanso, MC Kirikiri, OPC NCC Members and media friends.

Speaking at the gathering, Gani Adams told the gathering that Odua Progressive Union,is non-governmental, non-religious social cultural organisation formed in 2011 to create an enabling podium for the sons and daughters of Yoruba in diaspora worldwide.

He further explained that OPU seeks to preach Unity and Peaceful co-existence among all Yorubas spread across the globe,pointing out that his mission in the country is to Launch the Cote d’Ivoire branch of OPU which is already spread across over 60 countries in the world.

Speaking at the gathering, Her Excellency Ambassador Akabogu-Chinwuba informed the gathering that the population of Nigerians in her country is about 3Million with Yorubas representing about 85% of the population hence the wisdom in the choice of having a branch of OPU in the country,she later presented plaques to Otunba Gani Adams and the Royal Fathers as a gesture to mark their visit to Nigeria Mission in Cote d’Ivoire.

Aside the Ambassador, members of the Nigeria Community in Cote d’Ivoire, Yoruba Community, principal officers of the Nigeria Mission were also in attendance and all gave kudos to the Ambassador for her willingness and open door policy,she was also praised for being humane in handling issues affecting Nigerians in Cote d’Ivoire.‎

Meanwhile, Otunba Gani Adams has praised the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari on his anti-corruption programme.

FLASH: OPU EUROPEAN COORDINATORS PLAN BIG FOR OPU WORLD CONGRESS !

Taking a glimpse at the just concluded Oodua Progressive Union European Coordinators 2nd Meeting in Amsterdam, Holland held on 28th and 29th August, 2015. The event under the chairmanship of the OPU Europe Coordinator Akogun Banji Ojo was attended by coordinator of each of the European countries as well as their officers and other stakeholders.

Among other progress made at the two-day meeting over OPU Housing Project for the benefits of Yoruba sons and daughters in diaspora, a significant plan is underway towards convention of all members at World Congress of Oodua Progressive Union coming up in Ile -Ife, Nigeria in January, 2016. Further details of the OPU World Congress and other developments are to be conveyed to all Oodua Progressive Union members spreading across over 65 countries through their countrywide Co-ordinators.

In a signed statement released by the media and publicity scribe of the organisation's European Coordinators OPU, Alhaji Ganiyu Wahab Oshidele expressed appreciation on behalf of OPU Europe to Otunba Dr. Gani Adams, the Convener of Oodua Progressive Union Worldwide, and the National Coordinator of OPC and the Yoruba leader for reviving and promoting Yoruba traditions and culture across the world.

The statement thanked Otunba Gani Adams for his unfettered dedication to the cause of promoting cultural values unity and economic progress of Yorubas both at home and in diaspora

During the meeting the Oodua Progressive Union European Coordinators and Stakeholders also express their sympathy to Mr. Mobloaji Adewale Victor, OPU European deputy Coordinator's for the passing of his father Sir, Micheal Oluwayemi Adewale.

Olokun Festival Planning Committee Meet Otunba Dr. Gani Adams

Olokun festival planning committee meeting held at the Olokun festival foundation office of Otunba Gani Adams to plan for the 2015 edition of Olokun Festival.

Brief history about the Olokun Festival Foundation: The Olokun Festival Foundation, founded in 2001, is headed by socio-cultural activist Otunba Dr. Gani Adams, it is also dedicated to reviving and promoting Yoruba traditions and culture with an emphasis on the Ifa traditional religion as practiced in Nigeria. Each festival promotes awareness of the irunmole through a wide variety of cultural displays such as music, dance, art along with prayers, offerings and lectures.

The Olokun Festival Foundation promotes unity and peace through inviting all religious faiths, such as Christian and Muslim, to participate in and celebrate their Yoruba roots. The Yoruba youth of today are also supported by various competitions aimed at students currently enrolled in school and tertiary institutions.

The Yoruba Quiz Competition is held for Yoruba youth every October during the Olokun Festival and tests their knowledge not only about Yoruba in all senses but is also held in the Yoruba language exclusively. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded to encourage them to continue their studies. The Miss Olokun, Miss Okota and Miss Oodua beauty pageants offer substantial cash prizes to enrolled students and the reigning beauty queen is also given a car.
